Annie (4's and Pre-K classes)

Annie has been with the Stone School Cooperative Preschool since 1989. She brings to her students the gift of making each child feel welcome and special. She teaches the 4's and the Pre-K classes. Children and parents benefit from her positive, consistent approach to praise and discipline.

"My primary focus is to let the children know that school is fun! It's a place where everyone's opinion matters. I encourage the kids to explore new ideas, media, and experiences. I want them to feel that they are very important. Anything we learn beyond that—and there is a lot—is icing on the cake.

I have been teaching at Stone School for over twenty years and I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I enjoy working with the children and their families, and the Stone School gives me that opportunity. Parent input strengthens my program while letting the kids know that their parents think school is important."

Beth (3's and 3/4's classes)

Beth was hired in 2013. She is a former Stone School parent who is thrilled to now be a teacher here. She holds Michigan elementary and early childhood certification and has previous experience teaching preschool, as well as teaching K and 1st grade for Ann Arbor Public Schools. Her goal in the 3's and 3/4's classes is to give children a joyful introduction to school and to help her students learn about themselves, other students, and the world around them in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment.

"Stone School is such a special place because the families are an integral part of the classroom. Families and children can learn together, and it's wonderful for parents to get to see what their children are doing at school and to take such an active role in their education. Both children and parents will make good friends during their time at Stone School  - it's a very welcoming community. Preschoolers are curious about everything and excited to learn, and I'm so very fortunate to be able to work with them and our wonderful families!"
